International network

CUMULUS
CUMULUS is the International Association of the University of Art, Design and Media founded in 1990, which has been operating as an association since 2001. It had 176 members in 44 countries in 2011. The secretarial office of Cumulus is in Helsinki, Finland.

The Design School of the Politecnico di Milano has been a member of the Cumulus network since its foundation in 2001. Since 2008 the School has been an active member of the Association Board.

Cumulus is the only worldwide network working for art and training in design. It is a forum for collaboration and the transfer of knowledge and good practices useful for international partnership building. The aim common to all partners is to improve the quality of instruction through co-operation, and student and teacher exchange including their response to the EU Erasmus Program.

Cumulus has been a pioneer in developing joint programs, intensive workshops, projects and biennial conventions. Through summer courses and exhibitions Cumulus boosts the promotion of young talent and increases the visibility of their work.

To stimulate design actions, projects and research for a more sustainable society, Cumulus representatives signed the Kyoto Design Declaration in March 2008.
